Common questions
We're not married. Does that matter?
Not usually, a genuine de facto relationship qualifies for most partner visas. Marriage only matters specifically for the Prospective Marriage visa itself.
How long do we need to have lived together first?
For New Zealand's Partner of a New Zealander Resident Visa, at least 12 months in a genuine, stable relationship. Other partner visas have different requirements, we'll check what applies to your situation.
Can my children come with me?
Sometimes. Visitor-based partner visas often allow it, work-based ones usually don't, and your children may need their own application. We'll work out what fits your family.
What if immigration asks for more evidence of our relationship?
It's common, and it doesn't mean anything's wrong. Relationship evidence requests are routine, especially for newer relationships. We'll help you respond properly, so it doesn't stall or weaken your case.
